The firm has welcomed Grant Fisher to the partnership, acknowledging him as “one of the country’s most accomplished IP, patent and life sciences law specialists”.

Mr Fisher, who had spent half of last year as a consultant for FishPatInsight, had previously spent 18 years as a partner at Ashurst and will be joining the firm’s Melbourne office.

Corrs said the hire further strengthens the firm’s offering to domestic and international clients on large and complex litigation matters.

Mr Fisher’s experience has seen him work across all facets of IP, with a particular focus on patent litigation covering innovation and technology in chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, mining, computer-related inventions and mechanical devices, the firm noted.

Appearing on a number of committees, Mr Fisher notably is a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Australian Law Council and the Australian national group of the International Association for the Protection of IP (AIPPI), as well as the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and a committee member of the international Membership Committee of AIPPI as well as being current vice-chair of the AIPPI Standing Committee on Free Trade Agreements.

Corrs’ partner and head of IP Kate Hay, said “Grant’s quality and standing is well-known in the market and his decision to join Corrs is testament to the strength, talent and culture at the firm”.

“His appointment, along with the recent addition of two outstanding senior associates, supports our team’s capability to concurrently assist multiple clients on large scale litigation matters,” she continued.

“A strong addition to our partnership” were the words of the firm’s CEO Gavin MacLaren, who considered Mr Fisher “a leader in his field and is highly respected by clients for his ability to provide top quality legal advice and exceptional client service”.
