Deal: Downer has acquired 50 per cent of Victorian waste to resource business Repurpose It.
Value: Undisclosed
Area: Waste management, Resources
Key players: DLA Piper’s team was led by partner David Ryan with special counsel James McCarthy, senior associate Lauren Castledine and solicitor Claudia McEwen.
Deal significance: ASX-listed Downer’s acquisition comes after Repurpose It launched Australia’s first state-of-the-art construction and demolition washing plant facility in partnership with the Victorian Government, it was noted.
Repurpose It reduces the amount of waste buried in landfill by turning waste materials into high value resources such as aggregates, sand, recycled water, soil and landscaping materials, according to DLA Piper.
Commenting on the deal, partner David Ryan said that “Downer understands the importance of strong partnerships in helping drive positive change and sustainable business”.
“Their partnership with Repurpose It is another example of this and we are delighted to work with them on this acquisition,” he continued.
