DLA Piper is a multinational law firm with locations in over 40 countries across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The firm was formed in January 2005 by a merger between a troika of law firms—San Diego, California-based Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP, Baltimore, Maryland-based Piper Rudnick LLP, and United Kingdom-based DLA LLP.

Composed of two partnerships, the UK-based DLA Piper International LLP and the US-based DLA Piper LLP (US), DLA Piper is a single global board shared by the two partnerships, and is structured as a Swiss Verein.
