Ms Stringer brings more than 30 years’ experience to her new role, holding vast expertise in matters concerning superannuation, funds management, life insurance and financial planning.
Ms Stringer joins HSF from ASIC where she was a senior specialist in the corporate watchdog’s superannuation team. Prior to this, she was a partner at King & Wood Mallesons between 2014 and 2019, and a partner at Ashurst between 2007 and 2012. Before Ashurst, she was general counsel of MLC.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Ruth to the firm,” said Herbert Smith Freehills’ financial services partner Michael Vrisakis.

“The extensive policy and governance expertise that she has garnered working across private practice, in-house counsel and at a regulator, together with the universal respect she enjoys in the industry, make her an invaluable addition to our team and a huge asset to our clients.”
Commenting on her new role, Ms Stringer said: “I am delighted to have joined the Herbert Smith Freehills team. I have long respected the firm and its innovative approach to its financial services practice.”
“The team covers all facets of the industry, from banking and insurance to superannuation and financial planning, with the scale and depth to advise on transactions, regulatory interactions, remediation programs and everything in between.”
