Taking on the role from 24 June, Astrid Beemster comes from DLA Piper as a well-known real estate and commercial law specialist. She holds vast experience covering a broad range of real estate and commercial transactions, as well as substantial in-house experience with a premium Australian property company.

“We are delighted to welcome a professional of Astrid’s calibre to EY’s growing law services team, particularly with her strong reputation and credentials in real estate advisory,” EY Oceania law leader, Kirsty Keating said.

“There is so much opportunity in real estate both in legal advisory services and also legal managed services. EY is already strong in the real estate sector, and Astrid will be a great addition to EY’s multidisciplinary real estate team.”

Ms Beestrem specialises in real estate transaction advisory across a range of sectors and asset classes, focusing on office, industrial and retail. She has regularly acted in relation to direct and indirect property investments and has particular expertise acting for offshore entrants into the Australian real estate market.

Notable transactions include advising Allianz Real Estate in investing a combined 50 per cent stake in the new Scape Australia Joint Venture 2 Fund.

Ms Beestrem has also acted for a number of institutional clients including Australian and offshore property funds in relation to high-value acquisitions and disposals, complex leasing transactions on both the landlord and tenant side, joint ventures, investment management and property management arrangements, development projects and property due diligence in various Australian jurisdictions.

“I am thrilled to be joining EY’s impressive platform. It is very exciting to be leaving behind the traditional law firm model, and to apply my expertise as a commercial real estate lawyer in a new environment,” she said.

“The integration of real estate legal services into EY’s offering is ripe with opportunities to assist the clients with truly integrated business solutions.”
