The firm has appointed Cécile Baume as a US securities law partner in its corporate team in Sydney.

Ms Baume joins Bakers from international law firm, Allen & Overy and will begin in late January 2021.

We welcome Cécile into our ranks. Cécile has over 20 years of transactional experience with a practice focused on corporate finance and capital markets transactions, Baker McKenzies national managing partner, Anthony Foley stated.

In particular, her work on U.S. and international capital raisings in Australia and New Zealand will support and complement our growing and market-leading capital markets practice.

Ms Baume has built a large corporate finance practice, representing Australian and New Zealand issuers, investment banks, private equity sponsors and governments on US and international capital markets transactions.

Her practice extends to corporate advisory, most notably general US securities laws and corporate advice on corporate domestic transactions, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and stock exchange listings.

Cécile is a highly skilled lawyer advising as U.S. counsel on a significant number of market-leading Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Debt Capital Markets (DCM) transactions,” Baker McKenzie’s head of equity capital markets, Antony Rumboll added.

“She has a strong standing in the Australian and New Zealand markets and we are very excited that she has chosen to take the next step of her career with us.”

Mr Rumboll said Ms Baume joins at a time of growth in the ECM/DCM practice, having seen Baker McKenzie act on a number of the year’s largest capital raisings including, most recently, the establishment of HomeCo Daily Needs REIT as well as the Youfoodz IPO.

Back in May of this year, Baker McKenzie welcomed the hire of a new lateral partner, Lance Sacks, to the corporate team in Sydney.
