Scott Atkins has been named the new INSOL president, succeeding Julie Hertzberg.

According to a statement provided by Norton Rose Fulbright, Mr Atkins has been heavily involved with INSOL for almost 15 years. He was part of the inaugural class in 2008 and has been a board member since 2014.

“Scott was a driving force behind INSOL’s Taskforce 2021 and its initiatives which included the establishment of a physical presence in the Asia Pacific region; the launch of an on-line qualification; and the development of a forum for legislators and regulators to consider restructuring and insolvency matters, the statement added.

INSOL International chief executive Jason Baxter congratulated Mr Atkins on his appointment and thanked outgoing president Ms Hertzberg.

“I wish to thank Julie Hertzberg for her leadership and the support she has given INSOL during her Presidency and now look forward to working more closely with Scott whom I have known since he joined the INSOL Executive in 2017, Mr Baxter said.

“Scott is a committed and dynamic figure, and I am confident that the initiatives he wishes to drive will enhance INSOL’s profile and value to its members.”

Commenting on being elected president, Mr Atkins said: “It is a great privilege and honour to lead INSOL International especially at such a critical juncture in the global economy.

“INSOL’s focus will be on supporting members to pursue restructuring and insolvency solutions and systems that maximise global economic value.

“Through a global lens, we will continue to influence practice and policy of the profession as INSOL and its members shape legal and regulatory trends internationally.”
