Justice Martin began his career as a barrister in 1998, joined the Supreme Court in 2007, and became a member of the Order of Australia in 2013. He is well regarded both in Queensland and nationally.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman observed: “His honour has led a diverse career, graduating from the University of Queensland in 1979 and being admitted as a barrister in our state’s Supreme Court as well as Western Australia, the Northern Territory and the Solomon Islands.”

Justice Fentiman went on to note: “Justice Martin’s service in national legal organisations indicates the esteem in which his honour is held, not only within the Queensland legal profession, but also across the country.

“It is heartening to see the wealth of experience, dedication and sharp intellect Justice Martin will bring to this additional position within Queensland’s justice system.”

Justice Martin’s new position was effective as of Thursday, 24 March.
