Vicky Antzoulatos and Craig Allsopp (both pictured) are, the firm said in a statement, “two of the most formidable litigators” at Shine. Together, they will jointly run the firm’s rapidly expanding class actions practice.

They have, the firm outlined, spearheaded class actions on behalf of tens of thousands of Australians against powerful defendants, including the Commonwealth Bank, McDonald’s, Carnival Cruises, WorleyParsons, and many more.

Speaking about the appointments, Shine chief legal officer Lisa Flynn said that the pair would lead a team of more than 70 people across the country.

“The class actions landscape is evolving and the workload is increasing, so it makes sense to appoint not one but two senior lawyers to this coveted position,” she noted.

Mr Allsopp said he was excited to lead one of the country’s biggest class actions practices.

“As always, our goal is to increase access to justice to as many Australians as possible so they can obtain the compensation they deserve,” he said.

“Class actions are often the only viable option for people who can’t afford to launch claims of their own against defendants with big pockets.”

Ms Antzoulatos added that she expects a shift in the types of class actions being launched in 2023.

“There will be an increased focus on litigation in the areas of climate change, consumer rights, and data breaches,” she posited.

“This will allow us to help even more people who have suffered an injury or loss through no fault of their own.”
