Paula Wilkinson (pictured), who currently serves as the senior vice-president of the West Australian Law Society, is set to be the association’s next president.

She will begin her term on 1 January 2024.

Ante Golem – who was named as the society’s president for 2023 in October of last year – said: “I congratulate Paula on her appointment as the 2024 president of the Law Society.

“She has shown great commitment and has made a valuable contribution to the Law Society, having served on the Law Society’s council for a number of years before becoming the junior vice-president/treasurer in 2022 and senior vice-president in 2023.

“I look forward to working with the newly constituted council and executive in 2024 as immediate past president.”

Ms Wilkinson added: “I am delighted and honoured to be elected as president of the Law Society.

“I aim to diligently represent the interests of the membership to the best of my ability, and hope to continue contributing to the work the society does both for the benefit of the legal profession and the broader community.”

Elsewhere, Gary Mack and Judy McLean were declared to be elected as the two vice-presidents of the West Australian Law Society for 2024.

The news follows the resignation of Law Society of NSW chief executive Sonja Stewart last week.
