HSF has promoted 27 lawyers worldwide to the partnership, including nine in Australia, who work in four of the BigLaw firm’s offices Down Under.

The promotions are effective as of 1 May 2024.

The new Australia-based partners at HSF are Matthew Cameron (employment, industrial relations, and safety, Brisbane); Mia Harrison-Kelf (corporate, Sydney); Laurelle Ko (projects, energy and infrastructure, Sydney), Tess Mierendorff (corporate, Sydney); Jared Peut (competition, regulation and trade, Melbourne); Anika Sadler (disputes, Perth); Matthew Shelley (disputes, Brisbane); Claire Thompson (corporate, Melbourne); and Joseph Varghese (projects, energy and infrastructure, Melbourne).

The news follows the firm’s appointment of an Australian as joint managing partner of its global corporate practice in February and its promotion of four within its alternative legal services practice in January.

Speaking about the promotions, HSF Asia and Australia executive partner Kristin Stammer (pictured) said: “We are proud to promote nine new partners this year.

“These partners not only come with unquestioned technical excellence and a track record of results, they also possess the leadership skills required to foster high-performing teams to deliver an exceptional experience that our clients have come to know and expect.”

“Our firm makes deliberate investments to support the continued growth and success of its leading practices, and investment in our leadership pipeline is crucial,” Stammer went on.

“Our new partners ensure we have the capability to remain leading in our market for many years to come. And these promotions will continue our strength in areas where we see the biggest opportunities for growth, including energy transition and private capital.

“I’m incredibly proud to recognise the breadth of talent across the firm through the promotion of these nine partners.”

The BigLaw firm’s chair and senior partner, Rebecca Maslen-Stannage, added: “Providing opportunities for our talented team members to progress is a key priority for our firm.

“Spanning across all regions where we have a presence, these appointments reflect the confidence we have in our global business and our commitment to investing in our people and empowering them to reach their full potential.

“We are delighted to welcome our new partners and congratulate them on this significant milestone.”
