Gitta Satryani (pictured) has been appointed as a member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), one of the world’s leading arbitral institutions, for a five-year term that commenced on 9 May 2025.

She currently serves as managing partner at the Singapore office of global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) – a role she will continue alongside her LCIA duties.

In a statement, HSF expressed that Satryani is a “recognised leader in international arbitration and complex cross-border disputes”.

Her practice areas of expertise include international commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration, and public international law.

Satryani’s appointment marks the second time this year a Singapore-based partner from HSF’s disputes practice has joined a leading arbitral institution, following Alastair Henderson’s appointment to the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Court in April.

Speaking about her new role, Satryani shared: “It is an honour to join the LCIA Court alongside many of the world’s leading arbitration practitioners.”

“I look forward to contributing to the LCIA’s important work in promoting fair and effective dispute resolution worldwide.”

Satryani’s appointment to the LCIA Court comes alongside the appointment of seven other new members, including Brooks Daly (Netherlands), Arthur Dong (China), Sarah Grimmer (Singapore), Pascal Hollander (Belgium), Meg Kinnear (United States), Sophie Lamb KC (United Kingdom), and Hi-Taek Shin (South Korea).

Commenting on the new appointments, Kevin Nash, director general of the LCIA, highlighted the calibre of the newly appointed members and the extensive experience and insight they will bring to the court.

“This is an exceptional group of practitioners whose appointments reflect the LCIA’s commitment to delivering ‘best-in-class’ case management. Collectively, they bring deep experience in commercial and investor-state arbitration, public international law, and the design and operation of arbitral institutions,” he said.
