Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has taken two partners from Squire Patton Boggs, both with a focus on public M&A and equity capital markets.
Norton Rose Fulbright has added two partners in Sydney from Squire Patton Boggs: Michael Gajic and Ashley Rose.
Having worked together at Squire Patton Boggs, the pair have a combined expertise of more than 40 years and have advised a range of global and domestic clients.
Gajic is a corporate lawyer with over two decades of experience advising on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and capital raisings and has advised on several of Australia’s landmark takeovers and schemes. His practice focuses on advising publicly listed companies on transactional and advisory matters in a broad range of industry sectors, and he’s been a partner at both Australian and international law firms.
Rose has also been a partner at Australian and international law firms and acts for corporate and institutional clients on cross-border M&A, equity capital markets and restructurings on market-leading transactions. He has strong experience in advising on public M&A and capital markets, including takeovers and schemes, initial public offerings, capital raisings and novel market transactions on multi-jurisdictional securities exchanges.
“The high-quality, full-service law firm offering that Norton Rose Fulbright provides on a domestic and global scale will provide significant opportunities for clients, particularly in complex, cross-border transactions. We have great confidence in the breadth and depth of the firm’s corporate M&A team in Australia and overseas,” Gajic and Rose said.
This news follows the firm’s addition of the former GC for APRA in February, as well as the taking a Canberra-based partner from BigLaw rival HWL Ebsworth for its public law team earlier that month, the firm’s promotion of two lawyers to partner in December, the addition of an Australian head of cyber in September, the promotion of 34 senior lawyers in July, and the poaching of a tech partner and former co-head of Lander & Rogers’ national digital economy practice in April last year.
Speaking about the new appointments, NRF chief executive partner in Australia Alison Deitz said it’s “rare to find two accomplished corporate lawyers, with strong public M&A and equity capital markets capability, who have worked so successfully together to build a complementary global and domestic-focused corporate practice”.
“We expect that Michael and Ashley will fit seamlessly into our national corporate M&A team and find immediate opportunities to work with Australian and international colleagues to support our clients with interests in Australia, Asia, the US, Canada, the UK and around the world,” she said.
Corporate team leader Marshall Bromwich added that the firm was “delighted” that the new partners had joined the firm’s growing corporate practice.
“The combined experience of Ashley and Michael, particularly in public M&A, adds to the depth of our already strong M&A team nationally. We are experiencing strong demand for M&A services in the region, despite some of the present global uncertainty, and we are excited about the prospect of working with Ashley and Michael to continue growing their practices, domestically and internationally,” he said.
