Following its recent promotions, national law firm Moray & Agnew has named a new national managing partner and NSW managing partner.
Moray & Agnew has unveiled a new national managing partner to lead its offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, and Cairns.
From 1 July, Ian Denham will assume the roles of national managing partner and NSW managing partner from Geoff Connellan, who has been in these roles since 2018.
This news closely follows promotion of 25, including six partners, earlier this month, as well as the elevation of 17 lawyers to more senior positions at the start of the year, the appointment of a medical negligence partner to its Melbourne office at the end of December, and the addition of an insurance partner from Sparke Helmore in the same month.
Denham has been at Moray & Agnew for more than 29 years and has been a partner since 2003. He is also a member of the firm’s National Executive, responsible for the strategic direction of Moray & Agnew. Denham has almost three decades of experience as an insurance lawyer, specialising in professional indemnity and extending to a wide range of related areas including general liability, property and public liability.
“I am excited to lead our firm into the future, and capitalise on the many opportunities it affords us and our clients. I am in awe of all that Geoff has achieved in his time at the firm and especially over the last seven years as its managing partner,” he said.
“I am grateful to Geoff and the partners for the support they have given me through this transition, and the trust they have placed in me for this leadership role to deliver on our strategic intent.”
After leading the firm, which now has 800 people, including 120 partners, for seven years, Connellan is retiring from the partnership in December this year.
“I am proud of all that we have achieved in the last seven years as we have continued to expand on the services we provide to our clients, and the jurisdictions that we provide them from,” Connellan said.
“We have wonderful people who enjoy a supportive inclusive culture across our office network and a tremendous client base that we are privileged to advise.”
