Partner Louise Hogg and special counsel Lilian Zhou have joined Queensland’s workplace relations and safety practice.

Hogg has close to 20 years of experience advising employers on complex industrial and employment matters, with deep expertise in matters arising under the Fair Work Act.

She regularly represents clients in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court, and has extensive experience in Queensland’s public sector employment legislation and Industrial Relations Act.

Hogg is known for managing workers’ compensation claims, particularly psychological injury claims arising from management action, and her practice, risk-based approach to litigation and compliance.

“I’m pleased to be joining a team that understands the unique challenges employers face in today’s increasingly complex legal environment.

“I look forward to working with clients to manage their compliance with workplace laws and develop strategies to avoid disputes,” Hogg said.

Zhou has a strong mix of front-end advisory and back-end advocacy experience, with a background in the residential construction centre in Queensland, where she has advised on employment strategy and regulatory change.

The new special counsel is also experienced in wage audits, enterprise bargaining, employment documentation, and workplace disputes, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, bullying and termination.

“Joining a national team with a strong reputation for providing strategic advice to employers is an exciting opportunity,” Zhou said.

“My focus will be on strengthening Holding Redlich’s workplace capability in the construction space.”

National managing partner Troy Lewis said he was pleased to welcome Hogg and Zhou to the firm.

“Their outstanding expertise and experience enable us to establish an employer workplace relations and safety practice in Brisbane, which will become a core part of our national capability in this area,” Lewis said.

“Their combined advisory and advocacy experience in public and private sector matters and litigation will also deepen our bench strength nationally, at a time of significant demand for strategic workplace advice.”
