King & Wood Mallesons’ former global CEO and then chief executive partner in Australia has joined big four firm EY as a global independent non-executive.
Sue Kench, who served nearly three decades at KWM until June of this year, including as its global chief executive and Australian chief executive partner, has joined EY.
She will sit on the firm’s global governance council as an independent non-executive (INE), effective 1 November.
As a member of the global governance council, Kench will advise EY’s global executive on policies, strategies, and the public interest aspects of its decision making.
She joins two incumbent EY INEs, Tonia Lovell and Duane M. DesParte.
Speaking about the appointment, EY global chair and chief executive Janet Truncale said: “Sue Kench brings exceptional leadership and governance experience that will be invaluable as EY continues to transform for the future and supports clients to adapt in an ever-evolving global landscape.
“Effective governance, transparency, accountability, and ethical decisionmaking are cornerstones for the EY business.
“Sue’s experience and integrity will complement the significant contribution of our incumbent INEs and greatly benefit the organisation globally.”
