Christian Bartsch (pictured) will remain at the helm of Bird & Bird after being re-elected CEO for a further four-year term.

Having held the role since April 2022, this re-election ensures he will lead the international law firm until 2030.

During his tenure, Bartsch spearheaded the launch of Bird & Bird’s five-year strategy in May 2024, a plan designed to advance the firm through initiatives centred on its clients and people.

Under Bartsch’s leadership, Bird & Bird has expanded its footprint with new offices in Tokyo in 2024, followed by Riyadh and Lisbon in 2025, bringing the firm’s total to 33 locations across Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Graeme Maguire, chair of the board at Bird & Bird, congratulated Bartsch on his reappointment, praising the privilege of working with him and expressing confidence in his ongoing role in steering the firm’s growth.

“On behalf of the board and myself, I extend our warmest congratulations to Christian,” Maguire said.

“It has been a privilege to work closely with him over the past four years, and I am confident he will continue to play a key role in driving our firm’s success.”

Speaking about his reappointment, Bartsch thanked the partnership for their trust and pledged to drive Bird & Bird’s five-year strategy forward, keeping the firm at the forefront of delivering innovative, high-quality advice in a rapidly evolving digital world.

“Bird & Bird is a truly international firm with outstanding people, and I am grateful to the partnership for the trust they have placed in me for the next four years,” Bartsch said.

“Together with our global leadership team, I look forward to continuing the execution of our five-year strategy and maintaining the strong momentum we have built across the firm.

“As our clients navigate rapid technological and market change, our longstanding focus on supporting organisations shaped by the digital world ensures we remain well positioned to continue delivering innovative and high-quality advice globally.”
