Australian BigLaw firm Clayton Utz has strengthened its Perth partnership with the addition of a projects partner from global law firm Allens.
Tristan Iredell (pictured) has joined Clayton Utz’s Perth office as a partner in its projects team, in a move set to strengthen the firm’s expertise across the resources and infrastructure sectors.
Before joining the Australian BigLaw firm, Iredell spent nearly six years as a partner at global law firm Allens.
Iredell brings extensive experience advising on complex domestic and international projects, with a particular focus on major infrastructure developments and resources transactions.
His expertise covers engineering, infrastructure, and project financing, and he has worked closely with sponsors, financiers, developers, and contractors on projects across Australia and Asia.
Emma Covacevich, chief executive partner at Clayton Utz, warmly welcomed Iredell to the partnership, describing him as a highly regarded projects lawyer with a strong track record advising clients on some of the market’s most significant developments.
“Tristan is a highly regarded practitioner with deep expertise in the projects space, and a strong track record advising clients on some of the most significant developments in the market,” Covacevich said.
“We are delighted to welcome him to the partnership.”
David Benson, partner-in-charge in the Clayton Utz office, emphasised Western Australia’s continued importance as a resources and energy hub, sharing how Iredell’s experience and market reputation will be vital in guiding clients through major projects and new opportunities across the state.
“Perth remains Australia’s centre of resources development – including critical minerals – and there is significant investment in this sector,” Benson said.
“Tristan’s experience and market reputation make him a valuable addition to our Perth office and our national projects team.
“Western Australia continues to be a critical hub for energy and resources investment, and Tristan’s expertise will be instrumental in helping our clients deliver major projects and respond to new opportunities here in the west.”
This news follows the firm’s welcoming of former senior Australian Taxation Office litigator Rimma Miller to its Sydney office at the end of March.
