Raymond Byrne (pictured) has joined Coleman Greig Lawyers as a principal lawyer and team leader of its family law practice, effective 5 May 2026.

This appointment marks the mid-tier firm’s second principal lawyer hire in just over two weeks, following the arrival of former KPMG Australia director of risk assurance, Alexander Ong, at the end of April.

He brings more than a decade of specialist family law experience, with a strong track record advising clients on complex matters, including parenting and property disputes, alongside more than 30 years of experience across business and customer service roles.

Byrne’s experience spans a broad range of jurisdictions, including family, criminal and civil law, with particular strength in advocacy and cross-examination, underpinned by early experience clerking for a barrister during his studies.

Ashley Lamb, CEO of Coleman Greig, expressed that Byrne’s leadership and advocacy experience make him a strong addition to the firm’s family law team.

“Ray’s leadership experience and strong advocacy skills make him an excellent addition to our family law team,” Lamb said.

“His commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for clients, combined with his considered approach to resolving disputes, aligns strongly with our client-first philosophy.”

Speaking about his new role, Byrne shared how he is looking forward to joining Coleman Greig and working closely with clients as they navigate some of the most challenging and emotionally complex periods of their lives.

“Family law matters are often some of the most challenging a client will face. I’m looking forward to joining Coleman Greig and supporting clients to work through those issues and reach the best possible outcome,” Byrne said.
