Law Reform 2010: Hylton Quail, Law Society of Western Australia
Hylton Quail, incoming president of the Law Society of Western Australia lists his priorities for the WA legal body for 2010.
Quail plans to ensure the Law Society of Western Australia is addressing changes to state legislature that may affect fundamental civil rights - including the introduction of mandatory sentencing. He says he is concerned that the GFC has had a big impact on Western Australians but that there has been no real increase in legal aid funding, and that the society will continue to lobby both Federal and state attorneys-general on the issue.
