Graeme Jones, incoming president of the Law Society of Tasmania, outlines his key priorities for 2010.

Jones says a key priority is the recruitment and retention of lawyers in Tasmania - which he believes is a fundamental challenge for the state.

He says that without significant intervention and assistance, lawyer numbers will decline in Tasmania, impacting on communities and the general rule of law.

He says he will be looking to ensure the continued role of education in the profession, as well as the contribution the profession makes to pro bono work in Tasmania.
