Singapore-based law firm PDLegal has expanded its regional presence across the ASEAN market with the launch of its Australian branch in Sydney.
PDLegal has launched its Australian arm by opening up an office in Sydney, marking the next phase of its expansion across the Asia-Pacific region.
In a statement, the Singapore-based law firm expressed how the expansion marks a significant step in strengthening its position as a “full-service regional ASEAN law firm”.
The move also enhances PDLegal’s ability to offer cross-border legal services spanning dispute resolution, corporate and commercial law, construction and property, employment and business advisory, and insolvency and restructuring.
Heading PDLegal’s Australian expansion are Aaran Johnson, appointed as managing partner, and Pam Johnson, who takes on the role of chief operating officer.
Aaran Johnson joins PDLegal after nearly two decades with Sydney-based Marsdens Law Group, where he specialised in commercial litigation and most recently served as lead litigation partner.
With extensive experience in complex disputes, risk management, and cross-border matters, coupled with a well-established network across the ASEAN region, PDLegal stated that Aaran Johnson is expected to “amplify” the firm’s regional footprint and client reach.
“With the launch of PDLegal Australia, we’re not just launching a new offering – we’re expanding a partnership with clients who value strategic thinking, deep legal knowledge, and regional connectivity,” Aaran Johnson said.
“It’s an exciting time for us and for our clients, as we grow our ability to serve them both locally and across borders.”
PDLegal highlighted that, as COO, Pam Johnson brings a “unique and dynamic blend” of commercial insight and cross-cultural expertise to the firm.
“Our aim is to build a practice that not only delivers exceptional legal services but also understands the cultural nuances and commercial realities our clients face in a fast-changing regional landscape,” Pam Johnson said.
The launch of PDLegal Australia brings the firm’s total number of offices to four, adding to its established presence in Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Peter Doraisamy, group managing partner at PDLegal Australia, said the establishment of the Sydney office marks a key step in the firm’s long-term strategy to be a trusted legal partner across the ASEAN market.
“At PDLegal, we don’t just advise – we partner with clients to navigate growth, manage risk, and unlock opportunities across borders,” Doraisamy said.
“The Sydney office represents our continued commitment to being a trusted legal partner.”
