Hall & Wilcox has acted for ASX-listed APN/UKA European Retail Trust on its $130 million and $150 million accelerated rights offers to investors.

Existing institutional and retail unit-holders responded positively to the offers, with both closing well oversubscribed. The trust was the first ASX-listed property trust to focus on European property assets and is the only ASX-listed European retail property trust.

The first offer (which closed in December 2005) funded the acquisition of 23 retail properties in Greece and Germany, complementing the Trust’s portfolios in Italy and Spain. The second offer (which closed in April 2006) funded the acquisition of two shopping centres in Germany and a shopping centre in Greece.

As with the Trust’s IPO, Hall & Wilcox, led by Tony Macvean and Harry New worked closely with Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, Moore Stephens and various European legal and financial advisers. Sarah Dulhunty of Blake Dawson Waldron acted for Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan. The Hall & Wilcox team also included lawyers Murray de Jong, Funda Yalcin and James Morvell.
