Most husbands-to-be are simply required to turn up at the altar, but not the future husband of Mallesons lawyer and iron woman, Jane Richards.

Often couples aim to lose a few lingering kilo's before their big day, however, Richards' fiancé had a more difficult target, with only six weeks to do it.

Heading to Hawaii to compete in the Ironman World Championships after placing third in the Idaho Ironman last week, Richards demanded that her fiancé Lachlan also complete an ironman before their August nuptials.

"I told him I would not marry him until he completes an ironman and our wedding is scheduled for August!" Richards said.

Thankfully for Lachlan, he also took part in the Idaho Ironman and was successful in meeting Richards' demands.

Prior to the race, Lachlan said: "Most guys just ask a girl to marry them and they say yes or no on the spot. I get conditions attached. It's not exactly the easiest race to have to do. One way or another, this is my first time. I don't care if I have to crawl across the finish line. I'm going to get there."

After completing the race and when asked whether he would compete in another ironman, Lachlan said: "Never, ever again. Never, ever doing another one."

Folklaw is with Lachlan, however it seems he may not get much of a say.
