A woman has learned a very embarrassing lesson after falling headfirst into a shopping mall fountain: "Do not text and walk".

As reported by Lowering the Bar, a red-faced American woman, Cathy Cruz, has appeared on Good Morning America to apparently save other walking texters from the same fate.

Appearing on the American talk show with her straight-faced lawyer, the "fountain lady" described her embarrassment after a video of her (hilarious) stack made it onto the internet. According to Cruz, she became aware of the embarrassing footage after her nephew called to let her know she was on YouTube and that her fountain fall was visible to, pretty much the whole world. While it is still unclear who was responsible for the release of the footage, which has since gone viral, Cruz plans to sue.

While it seems ironic that a woman supposedly so embarrassed by the footage has appeared on American national television to discuss it further, her lawyer says they plan to hold all involved parties accountable.

When asked by the Good Morning America host what was so urgent about the text message to her friend, the woman said: "I don't know what got into my head, I just thought, let me text her back quickly." And before she knew it, she was in the water.

While reliving her embarrassing moment on Good Morning America, Cruz had some advice for the younger generation.

"Do not text and walk," she said. "The fountain could have been empty, I could have been in the hospital, I could have walked into a bus."

In good fun, Folklaw thinks you should check out the interview footage for a bit of laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOBZmNVgOz0
