Gilbert + Tobin integrates with Perth firm

Gilbert + Tobin and a Perth-based resources law firm, Blakiston & Crabb, have today announced their official integration.

GILBERT + Tobin and Perth based resources law firm, Blakiston & Crabb have today announced their official integration.

The two law firms will now sit under the Gilbert + Tobin banner. The move comes after the two law firm have been working in alliance for one year.

Blakiston & Crabb is a Perth’s law firms specialising in energy and resources.

Gilbert +Tobin managing partner Danny Gilbert welcomed the Blakiston & Crabb team and said it is a significant move that would benefit both firms.

“Blakiston & Crabb bring with them specialised partners in the Energy and Resources sector, one of the main drivers of Australia’s economic prosperity,” he said.

“It is one of Western Australia’s leading firms which has been at the centre of that State’s resources boom for more than 25 years.

“It currently acts for more than 100 publicly-listed Australian and international companies.

“Together with G+T’s existing partners we now have clients and projects that span Australia, Asia and the emerging market of Africa,” Gilbert said.

Following the integration, Gilbert + Tobin will have offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and more than 60 partners.

Blakiston & Crabb has seven partners and 24 lawyers across Energy and Resources, M&A, corporate governance and litigation working in Australia, China and Africa.

Blakiston & Crabb’s managing partner Michael Blakiston said he and his colleagues were delighted to join Gilbert + Tobin.

“Our alliance with Gilbert +Tobin over the past year was extremely successful,” he said.

“Our skills, expertise and styles complement each other and we are pleased to formalise our collaboration by becoming one firm.

“The addition of Gilbert + Tobin’s expertise in Corporate Advisory, M&A and litigation will help round out the offering to our existing clients,” he said.

Over the past 18 months, Gilbert + Tobin has expanded from a single Sydney based office to a national firm, reflecting the growing demand for high quality legal services.

The firm recently opened a Melbourne office with five partners in M&A, Banking and Finance, and Technology.

This built on its Communications and Technology, Competition, Litigation and Intellectual Property, Real Estate, M&A, Corporate and Finance practices in Sydney.
