Senator Penny Wong, Minister for Climate Change and Water, attended the Clean Energy Council’s member event hosted by Baker & McKenzie in their Melbourne office on 29 July.

“Completing the Puzzle: The Design of the Australian Emissions Trading Scheme and its Implications for the Renewable and Clean Energy Sector” included an address by Senator Wong, and a panel session chaired by Paul Curnow, partner in Baker & McKenzie’s Climate Change and Clean Energy Group.

The event’s 100 guests were drawn from across the spectrum of clean energy providers. Wong’s address provided industry with an insight into the Government’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme and National Renewable Energy Target, and the impacts these measures are likely to have on Australia’s clean energy industry.

Subsequent panel discussion emphasised the industry’s support for the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, and included Paul Curnow; Rob Jackson, General Manager Policy, Clean Energy Council; Petrea Bradford, Manager Carbon Markets, Energy Risk Management, Origin Energy; and Carlo Botto, Executive Director Corporate Strategy & Risk, TRUenergy Pty Ltd.
