Health Insurance provider Australian Unity has appointed Kirsten Mander as its general counsel and company secretary.
Mander will be based in the organisation's head office in Melbourne and will be responsible for group governance services, including legal and company secretarial affairs, risk management and compliance. She takes over the role from Verran Fehlberg, who has moved to the Netherlands with his family.
Mander has significant in-house experience, which includes working as a senior executive, general counsel and company secretary with a number of large Australian companies, including Sigma Pharmaceuticals, TRUenergy, Smorgon Steel Group and WMC Resources.
She's also the past Victorian president of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, a former council member and chair of the Ethics Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria, and a director of several boards, including Hadsel Grace & Associates, MEGT Australia and the Women's Circus.
