The public speaking event brings together the winners of similar state and territory competitions, with the ACT allowed two entrants in line with the tradition of the host jurisdiction being granted an additional competitor.
Justice Hilary Penfold of the ACT Supreme Court and ACT Law Society President Athol Opus will preside over proceedings and also act as judges on the night. The third judge on the panel is yet to be determined.
All competitors will be given their topic the night before the event, with the topics being selected by the ACT Young Lawyers Committee.
Competitors this year include Lander & Rogers senior associate Gavin Hollamby, Athol Birtley from Allens Arthur Robinson and Elizabeth Shaw from the WA State Solicitor's Office.
Details of the event can be found the ACT Law Society website.
