As this edition of Lawyers Weekly went to press, the profession waited to hear just what policies the major political parties would throw at each other, as they affect the Australian legal system and legal profession.

The federal election debate was held on Tuesday at the NSW Parliament House theatrette, closely watched by members of the profession and commentators, including Lawyers Weekly. Chaired by Professor George Williams of the University of New South Wales, the questioning panel comprised Australian Women Lawyers past president, Dominique Hogan-Doran, new Law Council president Stephen Southwood QC, and The Australian Financial Review’s Chris Merritt.
