THE COMPETITION has previously seen such opposition as Olympic bronze medallist Zali Steggall, who won the gong in slalom at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.

That year she also raced to victory in the Lawyers Ski Race, narrowly beating past winner Caroline Sweeney of Mallesons Stephen Jaques and Andrew Wallis, of PwC Legal.

Now in its 18th year, the Lawyers Ski and Snowboard Races are on again next month, held on the Rossignol Racecourse in Thredbo on Saturday, 4 August.

For lawyers, the event is a networking opportunity and one of the largest in the winter calendar, say organisers.

This year, Thredbo has upgraded its automated snowmaking system across the mountain, with additional guns being added to the Rossignol Racecourse.

Organisers expect more than 250 skiers and snowboarders, who will come from around Australia to compete in the race.

Combined with accompanying guests, more than 300 are expected for the post-race dinner.

Lawyers and firm groups are now signing up for the event. See www.lawski.com.au.
