Paul Riethmuller (pictured), a construction and infrastructure partner at Ashurst for almost 13 years, has defected to Jones Day.

Mr Riethmuller is joining the US-headquartered firm’s projects and infrastructure practice in Perth.

Prior to joining Ashurst in 2002, Mr Riethmuller was a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills for seven years.

His move follows the departure of Perth-based Ashurst partner Andrea Rezos, who joined Norton Rose Fulbright on March 3. Ms Rezos had been a partner at Ashurst since 1999.

Jones Day launched its Perth office in April 2014 by poaching Allens disputes partner Stephen McComish.

In June, the firm recruited NRF partner Simon Bellas for the Perth office.

With the addition of Mr Riethmuller, Jones Day currently has three partners and seven lawyers in Perth focused on major resources and infrastructure projects.
