McCullough Robertson boosts tax team
McCullough Robertson has welcomed the arrival of two additional partners, as it continues to look to strengthen its tax practice.
The firm has announced David Hughes will join its Brisbane office come 1 November 2018, after departing Small, Myers and Hughes Lawyers where he holds the position of founder and managing partner. Meanwhile, Melinda Peters, also of the Brisbane office, has been promoted from special counsel at McCullough to take to the partnership. Her appointment is also effective 1 November.

Mr Hughes’ focus is primarily on private clients and small-to-medium enterprises, according to a statement from the firm, while Ms Peters is an experienced specialist tax and duty lawyer, with a focus on corporate taxation, transaction structuring and tax controversy, it said.
“David and Melinda join our market-leading tax team, complementing the practice of existing senior tax partners Duncan Bedford and Damien Clarke,” said McCullough Robertson managing partner Kristen Podagiel.
“Both David and Melinda have proven track records and are tremendous additions to our partnership.
“Their focus will be a direct benefit to McCullough Robertson clients.”
Also commenting on the appointments, McCullough Robertson’s head of corporate and commercial Damien Clarke said: “David brings a depth of tax experience and has been recognised by Doyles Guide since 2015 as a Leading Tax Lawyer, as well as being named in Best Lawyers Australia for Tax Law".
