Previously a partner with K&L Gates, Ms Funston has advised clients on recoveries, liquidations, corporate restructuring and general corporate transactions, a statement from Maddocks confirmed.
She has worked across a number of industries, including agricultural, automotive, aviation, construction, and real estate.
David Newman, a Maddocks partner and head of the firm’s restructuring and insolvency team, said Ms Funston is an “important addition to the firm”.
“We are excited to have Danielle joining us and adding her expertise to our market-leading restructuring and insolvency team, which we intend to grow in Sydney,” Mr Newman commented.
“Danielle’s appointment gives us a strong presence in Sydney as part of our national practice and is consistent with the firm’s strategy of being an independent Australian law firm serving our clients across the nation,” he continued.
Ms Funston's appointment follows last month’s announcement regarding the appointment of IP partner Ben Miller to the firm.
