Arnold Bloch Leibler (ABL) has announced a series of senior promotions, elevating four lawyers to partner, two to special counsel, and three to senior associate roles, effective from 1 July 2026.

Through this broader promotion round, the east coast-based firm has lifted its partnership to 50, marking a milestone that doubles the size of its partnership over the past decade.

Managing partner Henry Lanzer and senior partner Mark Leibler shared that the promotions mark a significant career milestone for the lawyers involved, recognising both their individual achievements and collective contribution to the firm’s ongoing success and future direction.

“These appointments represent a significant career milestone for each of these talented lawyers, whose individual and collective contributions have played an important role in Arnold Bloch Leibler’s enduring success and will help shape the firm’s future,” the pair said.

“Against a backdrop of challenging economic conditions, both in Australia and globally, our firm continues to thrive as the one clients turn to for their most important matters – a position strengthened by our new appointees, who epitomise legal excellence, sound commercial judgement and outstanding client service.”

The new partners include Ari Bendet (commercial team, Melbourne), Laura Cochrane (commercial team, Melbourne), Michael Repse (property and development, Melbourne), and Brianna Youngson (property and development, Melbourne).

Elly Bishop (litigation, Melbourne) and Vidushee Deora (commercial, Sydney) have been elevated to special counsel, and Anjali Bethune (commercial, Melbourne), Danielle Ou (tax, Sydney), and Billy Sakis (public interest, Melbourne) have been promoted to senior associate.

Lanzer also expressed that the firm’s leadership structure has evolved in response to changing client needs and shifting commercial and regulatory demands, rather than any pursuit of expansion for its own sake.

“ABL has never pursued growth for growth’s sake,” Lanzer said.

“The firm’s partner numbers reflect the evolution of our clients’ interests and needs, and our commitment to ensuring our offering remains ahead of commercial and regulatory developments across our practice areas.”
