Travel agent sacked over facebook "cow" attack
A UK travel agent was sacked for calling a colleague a "brown-nosing cow" on facebook.
The 26 year-old mother of two, Emma Short, used the social media site to vent her anger at a co-worker who she claimed was harassing her. She wrote on her status update: "I have never been so angry. I swear I will smack the brown-nosing cow in the face before the end of my shiftI"
Needless to say, Short was sacked.
Three prison employees fired after macho facebook claims
Three US prison guards were fired after their postings on facebook about abusing inmates came to the attention of prison authorities.
An investigation into comments one guard made on the social network site about smashing an inmate's face into the ground revealed that two other guards also commented and supported their colleague's claims.
The three employees of Nebraska Department of Correctional Services were fired and the case has been sent to the Lancaster County Attorney's office for review.
"Does anyone know where I can find a very discrete hitman?"
Whether it's about inmates, colleagues or even your students - publicly venting your anger about work can lead to suspension, as a University professor in the US recently found out.
In what she thought to be a humorous post on her facebook page, Gloria Gadsden was suspended after posting comments such as; "Does anyone know where I can find a very discrete hitman? Yes, it's been that kind of day."
Gadsden followed up with another comment in February stating: "Had a good day today. DIDN'T want to kill even one student. Now Friday was a different story." It was then that a student reported her comments to university higher-ups.
