A New York-based law student has taken an alternative approach to securing his position in the competitive legal industry by placing an ad on Craigslist seeking the "perfect boss".
According to Above the Law, the inventive law student placed an ad on Craigslist seeking employers who matched his criteria for the perfect boss, providing 21 requirements they must satisfy, such as not being a lunatic and being willing to pay for his services.
Although he admits the ad was a joke, to his and most other people's surprise, he has secured an interview and received at least three other emails in response to the ad.
In the ad, the law student vents his frustrations with previous jobs, including his $20/hour job working as a law clerk for "an octogenarian solo practitioner who had more than a few screws loose".
"The ad was a quasi-joke that I wrote to amuse myself and my friends...But at the same time it wasn't really a joke. I would gladly pursue any lead that responded to the ad and met my qualifications," the student explained.
"I have in fact received three emails in the last day in response to the ad, much to my shock and surprise...one potential employer wants me to come in [this] week for an interview, so who knows, if they meet my criteria this little experiment of mine might actually work!"
With these desperate measures being taken by employers, Folklaw thinks the market might be a bit tougher for employers thanfirst thought.
