She is a specialist in commercial disputes, property and insurance law, professional liability, and commissions of inquiry, he said.

“Before being called to the bar, she was a senior associate at one of the Australia’s largest law firms and also worked for an internationally recognised London firm where she handled corporate fraud and white-collar crime cases,” Mr Speakman continued.

Ms Rees graduated from a combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of NSW, earning the Sir Kevin Ellis Prize. She also holds a Masters of Laws (First Class) from the University of Cambridge.

She has attended four World Universities Debating Championships and has won the England and Wales Debating Championship.

She has written articles published by the New Law Journal, Journal of International Banking Law and the Insolvency Bulletin.

Ms Rees will bring the number of female NSW Supreme Court judges to 11.
