Paul O’Donnell’s work has focused on energy regulation and market reform, the acquisition and development of energy related projects and the trading of electricity and gas.

Prior to joining HWL Ebsworth, Paul was general counsel at Novatec Biosol, a German company that developed innovative linear Fresnel solar thermal power generating technology. Before leaving Australia, O'Donnell was a partner at Clayton Utz for eight years.

O'Donnell has acted for many Australian energy generation, transmission and retail companies, the firm said today. He has also advised on power projects in various overseas countries including Spain, the United States, the Middle East, Africa, South America, New Zealand, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, China and Indonesia.
