HSF promotes three to partner

Herbert Smith Freehills has promoted three partners to its global employment, pensions and incentives (EPI) practice.

Michael Gonski, Sonia Millen and Drew Pearson have joined the firm’s partnership in Sydney.

Gonski, who was a finalist in the inaugural Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards this year, specialises in senior executive issues, employment aspects of mergers & acquisitions and employment litigation. He is the son of public figure David Gonski, who was a partner at HSF in the 1980s prior to starting his own corporate advisory firm.

Gonski will be joined by Sonia Millen and Drew Pearson, who both practise in the areas of industrial relations, general employment and diversity law.

The global head of HSF’s EPI practice, Graeme Smith, commented on the appointments: “Sonia, Drew and Michael are highly regarded by clients and peers. It is an absolute pleasure for us to welcome these three highly talented and experienced lawyers to our partnership.”

HSF recently appointed two Sydney-based partners to its IP practice. The firm also lost a partner in Peter McDonald this month (3 December), who left HSF to head up A&O’s antitrust and competition practice in Australia.
