Senior DLA partner defects to Moray & Agnew

The head of DLA Piper’s government litigation group in Melbourne is the second senior partner from that office to quit the global firm this month.

Government partner Norman Abrams (pictured left) has left the government and administrative law practice of DLA weeks after the departure of the Melbourne managing partner Peter Monk, who has joined Hive Legal as a principal.

In his role leading DLA’s government litigation group, Abrams acted for numerous Commonwealth agencies and state government departments. He specialises in complex workplace health and safety issues and compliance matters.

Lazarus Dobelsky (pictured right), a special counsel in DLA’s government practice, has also moved across to Moray & Agnew.

Bill Papastergiadis (pictured right with Abrams), Moray & Agnew’s managing partner in Melbourne, commented that attracting lawyers the calibre of Abrams and Dobelsky demonstrates that the firm is a contender among the legal market’ big players.

“We have been steadily gaining on our competition over the last few years in many areas, and it might come as a surprise to some of them that we are now as sizable and successful as we are in insurance and government,” said Papastergiadis.
