New boss for BBC legal team

BBC Worldwide (ANZ) has appointed a new head of legal.

Emren Kara starts the new role heading up the broadcaster’s legal team in Australia and New Zealand on 4 August.

Kara was previously the general counsel and company secretary of Mi9, the digital arm of Nine Entertainment.

Prior to Mi9, Kara was a private practice lawyer. He has worked for firms such as TressCox Lawyers, Atanaskovic Hartnell and Minter Ellison.

Kara will report to Fiona Lang, his predecessor, who was promoted to chief operating officer of BBC Worldwide in May.

The broadcaster’s head of legal in London recently joined FremantleMedia as its new general counsel.
