A former Herbert Smith Freehills senior associate has accepted a partner position at TurksLegal.

Liam Williams (pictured) has experience in banking and finance law in Australia, London and Singapore. He will work in TurksLegal's commercial disputes and transactions team in Sydney.

In his previous role at Herbert Smith Freehills, Mr Williams undertook secondments to organisations such as Westpac, BNP Paribas and the Suncorp Group.

“I’ve long admired the culture of TurksLegal and the opportunities for personal growth within the firm were very attractive to me," he said.

“The firm has an enviable reputation in relation to its commercial work and I’m very optimistic that we will continue to grow in this space."

Commenting on the appointment, managing partner at TurksLegal Peter Turk said, “TurksLegal has a long-standing commitment to provide the best legal and commercial advice for our clients.

“Liam’s appointment will assist us to meet increasing demand for expert commercial advice on complex transactions.”

Last year, TurksLegal appointed two banking partners in Melbourne and hired a former partner at HWL Ebsworth and an in-house counsel from a national bank.
