Turks’ banking practice gets a boost

TurksLegal has expanded its banking practice in Melbourne with two partner appointments.

TurksLegal has expanded its banking practice with two partner appointments.

James Roland, previously senior legal counsel at National Australia Bank, and Allan Kawalsky (pictured), formerly a senior associate at Norton Rose Fulbright, joined the two-office firm this week as partners.

Roland, who is based in Sydney, specialises in corporate restructuring and insolvency law. He has experience in legal and risk management advice and debt restructuring and recovery.

“TurksLegal … is growing strongly and I look forward to helping contribute to future success as part of the corporate restructuring and insolvency team,” said Roland.

Kawalsky joins the firm as a commercial disputes and transactions group partner and the leader of TurksLegal’s banking team in Melbourne.

“I’ve admired the culture of TurksLegal for a long time and the opportunities for personal growth within the firm are a huge attraction,” Kawalsky said.

In June 2014, TurksLegal nabbed Doug Vorbach, a former partner at HWL Ebsworth, and Kim Perry, an in-house counsel from a national bank.
