Restructuring partner jumps ship

Restructuring partner jumps ship

Macaire Bromley, DLA Piper

DLA Piper has appointed restructuring partner Macaire Bromley to its Sydney office from a smaller firm.

Ms Bromley (pictured) most recently worked at DibbsBarker, and before that at Allen & Overy in London.

Her experience includes advising clients such as banks, company boards and providers of new debt and equity capital on a broad range of restructuring solutions in situations of financial underperformance and more serious distress.

She has acted on cross-border restructurings for bank coordinating committees in London, advised Her Majesty’s Treasury on the bail-in of the Bank of Cyprus, and acted on The Co-operative Bank’s recapitalisation plan and liability management exercise, involving a complex restructuring of high-yield listed securities implemented in part via a UK scheme of arrangement.

Ms Bromley was also involved in several high-profile insolvencies in the financial sector in Australia, including Lehman Brothers Australia, Allco Finance Group and Enron Australia Finance.

“Macaire is an accomplished practitioner with almost 20 years' experience, and we're delighted to welcome her to DLA Piper,” said managing partner of Australia John Weber.

“Her appointment enhances the firm's capabilities in the region, particularly in front-end restructuring, and our expanded team is well positioned to advise clients across the full breadth of restructuring needs and all disciplines of a meaningful corporate restructure.”
