INSURANCE LITIGATION lawyer Katharine Philp has been appointed special counsel at TressCox Lawyers Brisbane office.

Philp specialises in medical negligence and has successfully defended a number of major matters in the medical negligence area for high-profile clients.

She has more than 15 years’ experience in personal injury litigation. In addition, she has been involved in claims for defamation, general advice and advising on the redrafting of governing legislation. Philp has also represented health practitioners with respect to investigations conducted by the Health Rights Commission (now the Health Quality and Complaints Commission) and the Medical Board of Queensland.

Before commencing her Masters in Health and Medical Law, Katharine took some time out of mainstream practice and accepted a twelve-month appointment as crown counsel of Tuvalu (a Pacific island nation) through the Australian Volunteers Abroad program.

Philp is a member of the Medico-Legal Society of Queensland Committee, the Australian Red Cross (Qld) International Humanitarian Law Committee and the Belmont Private Hospital Ethics Committee and Community Advisory Board.
