Adelaide tax law firm Cartland Law has announced a series of key appointments, headlined by the promotion of its first-ever partner.
Cartland Law firm has appointed Joseph Primerano as a partner, after having served as a senior associate solicitor over the past five years.
The appointment comes alongside Richard Lyons, who will be serving as a senior associate solicitor at Cartland Law, following 18 months at WRP Legal, where he was also a senior associate.
Primerano – who is both a lawyer and a chartered accountant – joined Cartland Law from accounting firm Le Cornu Lewis Hancock, where he served as an accountant for over six years.
In 2021, Primerano joined Cartland Law as a senior associate solicitor, working alongside Cartland Law principal Adrian Cartland. He will be the boutique firm’s first partner appointment.
“I am delighted to announce Joseph as a partner of the firm; his dedication, outstanding legal and accounting acumen, as well as his leadership skills, amount to a very well-deserved promotion,” Cartland said.
Meanwhile, Lyons – who is a taxation and commercial law expert – joins Cartland Law from fellow boutique firm WRP Legal, having previously held over six years of experience at BigLaw firms Baker McKenzie and Clayton Utz.
“Richard brings a wealth of experience to the firm and will add great value to the work we do in resolving complex tax disputes and advising on trusts and their administration,” Cartland said.
Based in the Adelaide city centre, Carland Law specialises in tax, trust, and legal tech matters, exclusively receiving instructions from fellow professionals such as solicitors, accountants, and advisers.
Additionally, the firm restricts its litigation involvement to cases where a revenue office is a named party.
The firm recently made headlines as founder Adrian Cartland highlighted how its strategic use of AI has driven growth and created opportunities for junior and graduate lawyers, rather than replacing them.
With over 24 staff, Cartland Law is one of the largest specialist tax law firms in the country.
