Queensland firm Cooper Grace Ward Lawyers has appointed a new partner, special counsel and senior associate to its health law team.

Joining the firm as partner, Carol Lee brings 15 years of experience in personal injuries litigation, including 10 years solely in the area of health law and medical negligence claims.

Lee's legal expertise is grounded in direct clinical experience, having qualified as a registered nurse in 1983 and worked in a variety of settings in a major Queensland public hospital.

Having acted in a number of high profile coronial inquests, Lee has represented Queensland Health and indemnified individuals before various professional registration boards, coronial inquests, the Health Quality & Complaints Commission and resultant claims.

Kalina Pyra joins the firm as special counsel, bringing over 19 years' experience with a primary focus on health litigation in the past 11 years.

Pyra has acted on behalf of hospitals, medical practitioners and allied health professionals before the Medical Board, Coroner's Court and in the Health Quality and Complaints Commission.

Kate McIntyre joins the team as a senior associate and has acted for medical practitioners and allied health professionals in medical negligence claims, the Health Quality and Complaint Commission, the Medical Board and coronial inquests.

She has also specialised in the defence of personal injury (public and product liability) and professional indemnity claims.
