Ms Podagiel, a senior corporate and commercial lawyer with the firm, will commence in her new role on 1 June 2018, following her recent return from maternity leave.

Current managing partner Brad McCosker will continue in the role until the start of June, and will assist in the transitional phase.

Ms Podagiel started with McCullough Robertson in 2001 as a graduate, and has been a partner since 2007, the firm said, practicing across the resources, joint ventures and project financing teams.

Chairman of partners Dominic McGann said the firm is excited about this leadership appointment and what it will mean for clients moving forward.

“Kristen is an excellent lawyer and natural leader, which makes her the perfect candidate for the role of managing partner,” he said.

“Her career success is built on a personal commitment to client relationships and sets an outstanding example for the whole of the firm.”

Mr McGann also paid tribute to the legacy left behind by the outgoing Mr McCosker.

“Brad has driven the competitive positioning of McCullough Robertson and helped the firm look to the future in a dynamic profession,” he said.

“He has been instrumental in shaping the leadership approach throughout the firm and we look forward to his ongoing contribution.”
