Vicky Papas (former legal practice manager at the Office of Public Prosecutions), Olivia Trumble and Nahrain Warda (both barristers specialising in criminal law), Kieran Gilligan (former Crown prosecutor), and Stephen Lee (former assistant Victorian government solicitor) were all announced by the state government.

The appointments add four additional magistrates to the Magistrate’s Court of Victoria, Attorney-General Martin Pakula said in a statement.

The fifth appointment replaces Magistrate Bruce Cottrill, who retired in June after almost 20 years on the bench.

“The appointments bring expertise across a wide range of legal fields to the Magistrate’s Court, and I look forward to their service over the coming years,” Mr Pakula said.

“I would like to thank Magistrate Bruce Cottrill for his contribution to Victoria’s justice system over almost two decades of service.”
